Woman charged in collision that killed bicyclist in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A woman was arrested and charged following an accident that killed a bicyclist in Albuquerque, reports the Albuquerque Journal.

The collision happened June 5 on Gibson Boulevard SE near Yale Boulevard SE shortly before 1:30 a.m.  Police said 23-year-old Leann Grace Blackhorse was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westbound when she struck a man riding a bicycle west in the middle lane.  The bicycle rider, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blackhorse allegedly left the scene of the accident.  Investigators said intoxication and inattention on the part of the driver were contributing factors in the fatal crash.  Blackhorse now faces charges of DWI-related vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving great bodily harm or death.
