Woman injured in crash after tree falls on vehicle in Cass County

PORTER TOWNSHIP, MI - A crash in Cass County on Sunday night sent a woman to the hospital, reports LeaderPublications.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene in the vicinity of US-12 and Robbins Lake Road in Porter Township.  The initial investigation indicated that a tree fell into the roadway as a driver was heading westbound on US-12 sometime before 8:39 p.m.

The tree struck the vehicle, driven by Charles Koonee III of Elkhart.  The impact pushed the vehicle off the road and left it damaged.

A passenger, Samantha Glaire, was taken by EMS to South Bend Memorial Hospital.  No details were released on her condition.  Koonee and Glaire were both wearing seat belts, authorities said.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
