DAYTON, IN - Authorities said a car accident in Tippecanoe County on Tuesday morning claimed the life of the driver and injured her daughter.
According to a report by WTHR, the crash happened on State Road 38 near Delaware Street east of Dayton. Police said a 25-year-old woman was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire west on SR 38 and passed another westbound vehicle in a no passing zone on a hill.
The driver lost control of her vehicle while approaching an oncoming eastbound vehicle, went off the side of the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being transported to Franciscan Hospital. Her 3-year-old daughter who was riding in the car was hospitalized with minor injuries. Both were properly restrained at the time, police said.
