Woman sentenced for crash that killed bicyclist in NW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A woman has been sentenced in connection with a fatal accident that took place last year in northwest Albuquerque, according to KRQE.

32-year-old Mollie Duran of Rio Rancho will serve nine years behind bars for two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities said Duran was driving an SUV in July 2022 when she struck a bicyclist from behind at Unser Boulevard and Kimmick Road at about 10:30 a.m.  The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries.

Duran was reported to have been driving drunk at the time of the crash.  Another bicyclist said she left the scene of the accident but she was apprehended by police a short time later and her car was identified as having struck the victim.

The judge gave Duran two weeks to get her affairs in order.  Further updates will be provided by our Albuquerque car accident lawyer as more information becomes available regarding the incident.
