Woman seriously injured in head-on collision on Indiana 26

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, IN - Two people were injured, one seriously, when their vehicles collided in Tippecanoe County on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

A report by the Journal & Courier stated that the accident happened at Indiana 26 and Tippecanoe County Road 775 East at about 12:40 p.m.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office said that the driver of a Honda Pilot was headed west on Indiana 26 when the driver of an eastbound Dodge pickup truck attempted to turn onto County Road 775 East and turned in front of the Pilot, causing a head-on collision.

The driver of the Pilot, 26-year-old Hanna Long of Delphi, was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she was listed in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the pickup, 37-year-old Ranferi Zetina Cruz of Lafayette, was treated and released from a Lafayette hospital.

Cruz was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving without a license.

The intersection was shut down for several hours for the crash investigation.
