1 dead in accident on I-70 westbound near Shadeland Avenue

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Authorities are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Monday night in Indianapolis.

WTHR reports it happened on the city's east side at about 10:30 p.m. One person was killed in the incident on the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Shadeland Avenue.

The victim was identified as 60-year-old Shawn Torrey Phillips. No details were released on what led to the crash, which shut down all westbound lanes of I-70 in the area for several hours.
