16-year-old dies after being struck by train in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, IN - Police were at the scene of a fatal railroad accident in South Bend on Friday morning, the South Bend Tribune reports.

It happened near the intersection of Lincoln Way East and Robinson Street.  Police said a 16-year-old boy from South Bend was struck and killed by a train at about 8:45 a.m.

Norfolk Southern is conducting a full investigation into the incident.  Police said initial evidence indicates that the fatality was "a tragic accident."
