2 students struck by hit-and-run driver on street in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, IN - Mishawaka Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck two elementary school students last week, reports WNDU.

The injured victims in Friday's accident were two boys from Walt Disney Elementary School.  Police said they were crossing the street with a crossing guard at the intersection of East Day Road and Merrifield Avenue at about 2:10 p.m. when they were struck by a vehicle.  The driver had disregarded the crossing guard, and left the scene going east on East Day Road following the collision.

Neither student was seriously injured in the incident.  One boy was transported via ambulance for treatment, while the other left with his parent.

Police described the vehicle they are looking for as a blue or turquoise sedan, possibly either a Hyundai or Pontiac Grand Am.
