2 dead, 1 injured in car accident on Interstate 65 north of Franklin

INDIANAPOLIS\, IN - Indiana State Police were called to the scene of a deadly car accident on Interstate 65 on Sunday morning, reports WRTV.

The crash happened near the 96 mile marker, about six miles north of the Franklin exit.  An investigation indicated that the driver of a 2011 Jeep ran off the roadway at about 9:30 a.m. The vehicle went into a ditch and then struck several trees.

Two female passengers from Chicago were found dead at the scene, 52-year-old Cearmease Evans and a 17-year-old girl.  The driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
