SOUTH BEND, IN - Authorities said a collision at an intersection in South Bend last week left two people severely injured.
WNDU reports the crash happened Thursday morning in the area of Huron Street and Bendix Drive shortly after 1 a.m. According to investigators, the driver of a vehicle going south on Bendix Drive did not stop at a stop sign. The vehicle crashed into a vehicle going west on Huron Street and also hit a parked car.
The two injured victims were the driver of the southbound vehicle, a 24-year-old woman from Niles, and a passenger who was trapped in the westbound vehicle.
Several passengers in the westbound vehicle fled the scene on foot when police arrived. It was not clear whether the driver of that car, a 31-year-old South Bend man, was among those who ran away.
The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is investigating the incident.
