Driver arrested after crashing into porch of South Bend home

SOUTH BEND, IN - Police said an alleged drunk driver was arrested after crashing into a porch in South Bend on Friday night, reports WBST.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Trae Lottie of South Bend.  Indiana State Police said a trooper attempted a traffic stop on Lottie at about 9 p.m. on Portage Avenue after noticing his vehicle had equipment violations.

Authorities said Lottie sped away and crashed into a parked car on Beverly Place after a police chase.  He continued across the street and slammed into the wooden porch of a home where the vehicle became stuck.

Lottie was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement, and reckless driving.

After being transported to an area hospital, he was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.
