Driver dies after crashing into tree in Tippecanoe County

LAFAYETTE, IN - The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office released details of a fatal vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday morning.

According to WISH, the incident happened northeast of Lafayette on Old State Road 25 North.  The sheriff's office said a driver was headed north shortly before 7 a.m. and crossed over the center southbound lane near the intersection with Sugar Creek Road.

The vehicle went off the roadway, crashed into a wooded area and struck a tree.  The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed in the wreck.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
