Driver dies after pickup crashes into tree in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, IN - Police say a driver died of his injuries following an accident last month in Elkhart County, according to WSBT.

The victim of the April 27 wreck was identified as 54-year-old Daniel Alvarez of Elkhart. Investigators said Alvarez was driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck on Old US-33 shortly before 8:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line, went off the roadway, and crashed into a large tree.

Alvarez passed away last Thursday at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
