CASS COUNTY, MI - A driver was injured in a collision with a Michiana garbage truck on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
WBND reported details of the crash, which occurred at about 11:43 a.m. on Oil City Road near M-62 in Jefferson Township. According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, the garbage truck was stopped facing north on Oil City Road when the driver of a northbound vehicle failed to stop in time and slammed into the back of the truck.
The driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Keith Plummer of Vandalia, was transported to Memorial Hospital. No details were released on his condition.
There was no word yet on why the truck driver, 43-year-old Matthew Snow of Eau Claire, had stopped in the road. It was not yet clear if the truck was directly in the road, or on the shoulder.
The sheriff's office is investigating the crash, and said that it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
