Driver killed in collision with semi on U.S. 31 in Fulton County

FULTON COUNTY, IN - A driver died following a collision with a semi-truck in Fulton County last Thursday morning, according to WBND.

Indiana State Police said the driver of a 2009 Hyundai Accent was going west on Southway 31 in Rochester at about 8 a.m. and tried to drive across U.S. 31.  The Hyundai collided with a 2019 Volvo semi-truck headed south on U.S. 31, with both vehicles ending up south of the intersection.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 38-year-old Dewayne A. Hecht of Rochester, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The truck driver, 53-year-old Remzi Ozturk of Holland, Michigan, was not injured.

Indiana State Police and the Fulton County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation by State Police.
