INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A crash in Indianapolis involving a car and a semi-truck left a woman dead, according to a WRTV report.
Indiana State Police troopers were dispatched to the scene Sunday morning shortly before 7 a.m. after callers said a car had crashed into the back of a semi parked on Interstate 465 northbound.
The ISP's investigation found that the driver of a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette was headed north on I-465 in the left lane when she crossed all lanes of traffic to the right and may have lost control of the car.
The Corvette hit the rear end of the semi that was stopped on the right shoulder near the 42.8 mile marker. The car became wedged under the trailer and caught fire. The car's driver, 29-year-old Alexis Hollins of Merrillville, was found dead at the scene. No one else was in the car.
The semi driver was not injured in the wreck.
State police are continuing to investigate the crash, which restricted the northbound lanes for several hours. High speed was believed to have been a contributing factor in the incident.
