1 dead, 1 injured after collision on Mulberry Street in Muncie

MUNCIE, IN - A police pursuit ended with a crash in Muncie Tuesday afternoon that left one person dead and another critically injured, according to WXIN.

The incident began when police attempted to arrest 39-year-old Olivia Larue of Muncie, who was the subject of two felony warrants. When officers tried to pull over her Ford Escape at about 12:10 p.m., she refused to stop and officers began the pursuit.

Indiana State Police said Muncie was going west on Main Street at high speed when she went through a red light and crashed into a 2014 Acura going north on Mulberry Street.  A passenger in the Acura died at the scene and was identified as 30-year-old Javonta Jones of Muncie. The driver of the Acura, 27-year-old Acacia Hammond of Muncie, was transported to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Following a short standoff with police officers, Larue surrendered and was taken into custody.  A male suspect traveling with her fled the scene and is still being sought.  Indiana State Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
