ELKHART COUNTY, IN - A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Elkhart County Thursday morning, WBND reports.
The victim was identified as 67-year-old William Hess of Goshen. An investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office determined that Hess was driving a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on County Road 17 when the incident occurred at about 11:44 a.m.
Authorities said 77-year-old Sharon Blankenship of Goshen was driving a 2009 Pontiac C6 south on County Road 17 and failed to yield to the right of way at the intersection while turning east onto County Road 38.
The front end of the Pontiac struck Hess, who was ejected from the motorcycle. He died at the scene. Hess was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred, the sheriff's office said.
Blankenship was transported to Goshen General Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Investigators said both drivers had solid green lights at the time of the collision. No citations were given at the scene.
