Head-on collision east of Sheridan kills both drivers

SHERIDAN, IN - Authorities said a head-on collision in Hamilton County Tuesday night left two drivers dead, according to WTHR.

The accident happened in the area of State Road 38 and Six Points Road southeast of Sheridan.  Investigators said the driver of a GMC Sierra was going west on State Road 38 at about 7:30 p.m. and crossed over the center line. The GMC collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling in the eastbound lane.  The impact sent the Sierra off the road while the Trailblazer landed in a ditch.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as 31-year-old Jack Meachum.  The other driver, 26-year-old Brennan Smith, died after being taken to a hospital in Indianapolis.  Both were Sheridan residents.

The Carmel High School Athletic Department said Meachum was the coach of the boys' lacrosse team at the school.
