High school student dies in collision on State Road 26 West

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN - A collision in Tippecanoe County Thursday morning claimed the life of an area high school student, authorities said.

According to a WISH report, the accident happened in the 2900 block of State Road 26 West near West Lafayette, near the campus of Purdue University. 

An initial investigation found that the driver of a 2009 Dodge Caliber car was heading west at about 7:30 a.m. when she crossed over the center line and hit a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan going eastbound.

The driver of the Dodge, 18-year-old June Anneliese Florian, was killed.  She attended Harrison High School.  The driver of the Chrysler, 60-year-old Jennifer Nelson of West Lafayette, was hospitalized in serious condition.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Wabash Township Fire Department responded to the scene of the wreck.
