INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A man walking on the south side of Indianapolis was fatally struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night, WTHR reported.
The victim was identified by the Marion County Coroner's Office as 38-year-old Cody Rex Highfield. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Highfield was crossing in the 8900 block of U.S. 31 South near County Line Road when the accident took place at about 9 p.m. He was hit by a vehicle going north, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation has determined that Highfield was not walking in a crosswalk or an intersection at the time of the crash. The driver involved stayed at the scene and was reported to be cooperating with investigators.
