MISHAWAKA, IN - A man has been sentenced to prison in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in Mishawaka.
WBND reported details contained in court documents from the St. Joseph Superior Court in the case of Robert Blankenship. He pleaded guilty in connection with the death of 19-year-old Varinder Singh, who was struck and killed while riding his bicycle at about 6:17 a.m. February 13 in the 1100 block of 12th Street.
Blankenship was reported to have pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the death of another person. He was sentenced last week to a total of eight years, which includes four years in jail through the Indiana Department of Correction, two years of home detention through Michiana Community Corrections, and two years of probation.
Blakenship driver's license was also suspended for six years.
