BERRIEN COUNTY, MI - Police are investigating a collision in Berrien County last week that left a moped rider dead.

WNDU reported the incident happened Wednesday morning in Bainbridge Township at about 7:20 a.m.

According to police, a 44-year-old man was riding a moped south on Bainbridge Center Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Territorial Road.  The moped was struck by a Chevy Tahoe SUV driven by a 47-year-old woman from Benton Harbor.

The moped rider, an Eaton County, Michigan resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred, police said. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
