Person fatally struck by train near South Bend International Airport

SOUTH BEND, IN - Authorities are investigating a fatal railroad accident that occurred in South Bend last week.

According to WBND, the incident happened March 1 in the area of Ardmore Trail and Mayflower Road near South Bend International Airport. The St. Joseph County Police Department said a male on the tracks was struck by a Norfolk Southern train at about 2:15 a.m.

The victim's name and age were not immediately released.
