Victim of Tippecanoe County wreck identified as Delphi man

AMERICUS, IN - The victim of a Wednesday morning car crash in Tippecanoe County has now been identified, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office said the man killed in the incident near Americus was 43-year-old Michael York of Delphi.

Investigators determined that York was driving north on Old Indiana 25 at about 7 a.m. when he veered to the left, crossed the southbound lanes and ran off the roadway near Sugar Creek Road.  The car went into a ditch and then crashed into a tree.  No other vehicles were involved.

York, who was not wearng a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  No one else was in the vehicle at the time.

Old Indiana 25 was shut down between Tippecanoe County Roads 600 East and 775 East for the accident investigation.
