Whitestown police office injured in collision on Interstate 65

WHITESTOWN, IN - A Whitestown police officer was injured when his vehicle was struck on Interstate 65 Wednesday night, according to a WISH TV report.  

Police said the officer was utilizing an emergency vehicle median turn on I-65 north at about 11:30 p.m.  As the officer slowed down in the emergency lane with his red/blue lights activated, his vheicle was hit from behind by a Honda Crosstour sedan traveling at a high rate of speed.

The police officer, whose name was not released, and the other driver, Ever Reyes of Indianapolis, suffered moderate injuries and were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Investigators believe alcohol was a mitigating factor in the collision.
