Woman charged with driving twice the speed limit in Indianapolis crash

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Charges have been filed in connetion with a fatal crash that took place on the northeast side of Indianapolis in April, reports WRTV.

Investigators determined that Latonia Brooks of Indianapolis was driving a 2022 Ford Escape at 84 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone near the intersection of E. 56th Street and N. Arlington Avenue.  When the driver of a 2010 Hyundai Accent tried to turn south on Arlington Avenue, the Hyundai entered the path of the Ford and was struck on the passenger side.

The driver of the Hyundai, LaShauna Robinson, died at the scene.  Besides speeding, police said, Brooks also tested positive for Delta 9 THC.  Robinson's blood tested positive for methadone.

Brooks has been charged with causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a Sched. I or II controlled substance and reckless homicide.
