Woman fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in NW Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in Indianapolis, in what police have categorized as a hit-and-run incident.

According to WRTV, police responded to the 4000 block of North High School Road on the city's northwest side at about 6 a.m. Monday and found the victim dead at the scene.  Her name was not immediately released.

The driver involved left the area without stopping to help, police said.  The accident is being investigated by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Fatal Crash team. 

Authorities closed North High School Road from Gateway Drive to Commons Drive for the investigation.
