The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) 2023 Conference

The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) Keller & Keller sent six of its social security disability attorneys to Washington, DC, earlier this month to attend the annual conference of the National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR). NOSSCR is an organization built on ensuring that people needing disability benefits get great advocacy and representation.NOSSCR is a specialized bar association for attorneys and advocates representing Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income claimants throughout the adjudicative process.

Since 1979, NOSSCR has provided continuing legal education to its thousands of members and public policy advocacy for its members and the people with disabilities they represent. Its mission is to advocate for improvements in Social Security disability programs and to ensure that individuals with disabilities applying for Social Security Disability and SSI benefits have access to highly qualified representation and receive fair decisions.

In Washington, DC, NOSSCR provided several networking opportunities at local restaurants, and there were plenty of opportunities to visit landmarks and museums, but the social security attorneys also attended several hours of classes each day to get updates on rule changes and case law, to hone their skills, and to learn new techniques for dealing with challenges in the process of applying for disability benefits. These classes were presented by experts in various aspects of Social Security applications – a member of Congress, an Administrative Law Judge, healthcare providers, professors, and more.

This conference is an excellent opportunity for disability attorneys to update their education, get practice pointers, and build relationships with other attorneys. Keller & Keller takes our responsibility to provide the best representation seriously, which means ensuring our attorneys are constantly learning and growing.
