2 brothers killed when semitrailer crashes into shop in Moriarty

MORIARTY, NM - A crash involving a semitrailer in Torrance County last week claimed the lives of two brothers, the Albuquerque Journal reported.

The victims were identified as 47-year-old Chad Gunter and 42-year-old Brad Gunter, owners of Ribs Hickory Smoked Pit Bar-B-Q in Cedar Crest.  The Torrance County Sheriff's Office said a semi went off Interstate 40 and crashed into the brothers' shop at about noon on Thursday.  The two were reported to be working in a warehouse when the vehicle hit the building.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while the other died after being taken to an area hospital.  The truck driver was treated for a shoulder injury and possible concussion.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office, and there was no word on whether any charges would be filed.  The restaurant will be closed until further notice.
