MEDANALES, NM - Four peple were killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 84 north of Espanola early Saturday morning, according to New Mexico State Police.
An investigation determined that a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and a 2019 GMC truck collided head-on at milepost 202 near Medanales at about 3:30 a.m. Both vehicles went up in flames after the accident. Two people in the Jeep and two people in the GMC were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
State Police said their investigation is in the early stages, with the NMSP's Police Crash Reconstruction Unit trying to determine the details that led up to the wreck.
