CHAVES COUNTY, NM - Emergency responders were called to the scene of multiple crashes in a portion of Chaves County last week, KRQE reports.
Two vehicles were involved in the initial accident that occurred in the area of US Highway 285 and Sagebrush Valley Road Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m. Authorities said other drivers on the highway did not slow down for emergency lights, leading to additional crashes with a total of five vehicles involved.
Three ambulances were dispatched to transport those who were injured, but no details were released on the extent of the injuries. New Mexico State Police and the Chaves County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
