Alleged drunk driver crashes into restaurant in South Valley

SOUTH VALLEY, NM - A restaurant in the South Valley sustained extensive damage when it was struck by a vehicle last week, KOB reports.

The driver of a white SUV was seen on surveillance footage losing control of the vehicle, crossing a median and crashing into Carnitas El Calentano restaurant.

No one was injured in the accident, but the restaurant owner estimated it caused about $40,000 in damage.

The video showed the driver of the vehicle driving away after the crash.  The alleged driver, 26-year-old Jonathan Rangel, was later arrested on charges that include aggravated DWI.
