LAS CRUCES, NM - A bicyclist has died of his injuries following a collision with a vehicle in Las Cruces last week, KTSM reports.
The victim was identified as 50-year-old David Mancha. The accident happened in the area of Solano Drive and Lohman Avenue June 28 at about 7 a.m.
An investigation indicated that Mancha was going west on the Lohman sidewalk when he attempted to cross Solano Drive and continued through the intersection, where he was struck by a southbound SUV.
Mancha was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso and was later pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police the driver of the SUV was not speeding and had the green light at the time, adding that the bicyclist did not dismount while going through the intersection. The SUV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges are expected to be filed in the case.
