ROSWELL, NM - The Chaves County Sheriff's Office said a collision early Sunday morning left a driver hospitalized.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said the accident happened on U.S. Highway 380 at mile marker 189 east of Roswell.
An investigation determined that the driver of a pickup pulling a trailer at about 4 a.m. swerved to avoid a head-on collision. When the other vehicle, which was in the wrong lane of travel, hit the front of the trailer it peeled off the left side of the car and pinned the car's driver inside.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to an area hospital. No details were released on the person's condition.
New Mexico State Police are investigating the accident.
