ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Albuquerque on Sunday afternoon, according to the New Mexico State Police.
The incident happened on Interstate 40 near mile marker 160 at about 2 p.m. The initial investigation found that the driver of a 2019 Toyota passenger vehicle was going west on I-40 but began to slide in the inclement weather.
The Toyota sideswiped a 2008 Ford passenger vehicle, which began to spin counterclockwise and was t-boned by a commercial motor vehicle. The driver of the Ford, identified as 64-year-old Flora Garcia of Farmington, New Mexico, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota and the driver of the CMV, both 48-year-old women, were not injured.
State Police are investigating the crash, and said alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor. They added that seat belts appear to have been properly utilized.
