ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Major traffic delays were reported in central Albuquerque following a traffic incident at the Big I late Monday afternoon.
According to a report by the APD, the incident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of I-40 near the I-25 junction.
#TRAFFIC Interstate 40 eastbound, Interstate 25 northbound and University in both directions at the Big I are shut down due to police activity.

The public is encouraged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
Information concerning the nature of the incident are unclear at this time. However, both interstates were shut down in both directions for some time afterward while first responders worked to assess the scene.
