Man charged with leaving scene of car accident in Roswell

ROSWELL, NM - A man is facing multiple charges in connection with a crash in Roswell on Monday night, the Roswell Daily Record reports.

Authorities said 61-year-old Willis Dwayne Hardwick of Roswell was driving at the intersection of East Gallina Road and North Atkinson Avenue at about 9:20 p.m. when he collided with a trailer attached to another vehicle.  No injuries were reported.

Hardwick allegedly left the scene before a deputy arrived and damaged a nearby fence, but later lost control of his vehicle and came to a stop on the side of a street.

According to the criminal complaint, a deputy extracted Hardwick from the vehicle but he failed to comply with further orders. Following sobriety tests, his blood alcohol level was found to be nearly twice the legal limit.

Hardwick was arrested on several charges, including driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer and failure to give immediate notice of accident.

He was released on his own recognizance while awaiting his trial.  Should any additional information come to light, our Albuquerque car accident lawyer will update this news blog.
