Man critically injured after crashing into arroyo in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A car accident in northeast Albuquerque on Sunday morning left a driver critically injured, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Police said a man was driving west on Candelaria Road NE at about 11 a.m. when he hit the median near Jane Place.  When he tried pulling back into the westbound lane, the vehicle rolled onto the driver's side and struck a guardrail on the bridge over the Embudito Arroyo.  The vehicle then went over the railing into the arroyo and ended up on its roof, investigators said.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the arroyo.  He was rushed to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.  No one else was in the vehicle at the time.

Witnesses reported seeing the man driving at a high rate of speed.  The Albuquerque Police Department's fatal crash unit is investigating the accident.  Should any additional information come to light, our Albuquerque car accident lawyer will update this news blog.
