LAS CRUCES, NM - Police in Las Cruces said a man was killed in a motorcycle accident on University Avenue Monday afternoon.
According to KFOX, the incident occurred after the victim exited Interstate 25 south near Triviz Drive at about 2:30 p.m. Police said the victim, 33-year-old Alfredo Giron III, was riding a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle at a high rate of speed and lost control after turning onto University Avenue.
The motorcycle hit a curb and then a retaining wall, causing Giron to be thrown from the bike and land off the roadway. The rider, a resident of El Paso, was pronounced dead after being transported to Memorial Medical Center. He was wearing a helmet at the time, investigators said.
Witnesses reported seeing Giron driving erratically before the accident. Our Albuquerque motorcycle accident lawyer will continue to monitor this developing story and provide any additional information as it is released to the public.
