Motorcycle rider killed in Albuquerque hit-and-run crash

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Police in Albuquerque are investigating a hit-and-run incident that killed a motorcyclist early Wednesday morning, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

The incident happened shortly after midnight in the Martineztown area, in the vicinity of Odelia Road NE and Edith Boulevard NE. Police said a man was riding a Ducati motorcycle west in the far right lane of Odelia Road when the bike was struck from behind by a BMW sport utility vehicle.  The motorcycle was dragged about a half mile and the rider was ejected.

The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to University of New Mexico Hospital.  The motorcycle had been stolen, police said.

The driver of the BMW continued north and parked, and three people inside fled the scene, leaving the SUV behind.

Police said the BMW was sealed and charges will be pending.  Should any additional information come to light, our Albuquerque motorcycle accident lawyer will update this news blog.
