Motorcyclist dies after being struck by vehicle on I-25 in Los Lunas

LOS LUNAS, NM - The New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal collision that took place last week in Valencia County.

The NMSP released details of the incident that occurred Wednesday morning on Interstate 25 at mile marker 202 in Los Lunas.

According to the investigation, a man was riding a 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on I-25 at about 5:30 a.m. when he was struck from behind by a 2006 Lexus.  The motorcycle rider, 58-year-old Robert Shepherd of Palisade, Colorado, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

State Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
