MORIARTY, NM - Crews responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 during wintry weather on Thursday, according to a KOAT report.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation said the incident shut down the eastbound lanes of I-40 between Moriarty and Edgewood while the wreck was being cleared. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
The accident occurred during difficult driving conditions throughout New Mexico as a storm moved through the state. Snow and ice made for treacherous road surfaces and low visibility.
