ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Two people were injured in a collision involving a Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office vehicle on Monday afternoon, KOAT reports.
The accident happened on New Mexico State Highway 333 shortly after 3:30 p.m. Authorities said a BCSO deputy was driving east when the vehicle was struck by a westbound vehicle making a left turn.
The sheriff's office vehicle overturned, and an off-duty firefighter came to the scene to remove the deputy who was trapped inside.
The deputy was hospitalized with a hand laceration, while the other driver was also transported to be treated for neck and back pain.
The incident shut down NM 333 in both directions for the crash cleanup and investigation.
