ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A wrong-way crash on Albuquerque's West Side last Saturday claimed the life of a man and sent a woman to the hospital.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, a driver made the left turn from Vista Alegre Street onto Unser Boulevard at about 7 a.m. and began heading south in the northbound lanes.
An officer who witnessed the incident was “getting ready to radio in the wrong-way driver” when his vehicle slammed into an oncoming pickup truck.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was pronounced dead at the crash site. The woman in the pickup truck was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities are unclear at this time.
