LAS CRUCES, NM - Police in Las Cruces said a man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Friday night.
A report by KRQE stated that the incident took place in the vicinity of Picacho Avenue and 17th Street. An investigation found that a man was walking northbound across Picacho Avenue at about 9 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound Toyota Camry. The 71-year-old victim was fatally injured.
Investigators said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident. The driver of the Camry, a 20-year-old, remained at the scene and told police he did not see the pedestrian prior to the crash. Police said they did not plan to file charges against the driver.
