Man sentenced for fatal Albuquerque crash

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man was sentenced for causing a fatal accident in Albuquerque in 2022, KOB reports.

Matthew Shetima-Joe pleaded no contest to charges of drunk driving and vehicular homicide in connection with the wreck.  Authorities said Shetima-Joe was drunk behind the wheel and speeding when he went through a red light and collided with another vehicle at Wyoming Boulevard and Osuna Road.  The accident killed the other driver, 21-year-old Victor Sandoval.

Under a plea deal, Shetima-Joe was sentenced by a judge to serve eight years in prison.
