SIERRA COUNTY, NM - Multiple deaths were reported following an accident in Sierra County on Saturday, KOAT reported.
The crash happened on Interstate 25 near Hatch. New Mexico State Police said it involved a single vehicle carrying undocumented migrants, though the exact number of people who died was not yet known.
I-25 was shut down in both directions between mile markers 59 and 63 for several hours following the wreck. The interstate reopened Saturday evening after the scene was cleared.
A crash reconstruction team was at the scene for the investigation.
