News: NMSP searching for driver after fatal accident on I-25

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New Mexico State Police said they are searching for a driver and a vehicle following a fatal crash on Interstate 25 in Albuquerque earlier this month.

NMSP issued a news release with an update on the incident that occurred on March 12 on I-25 north at Montano Road at about 8 a.m.  An investigation determined that the driver of a 2002 Buick Century was headed north when she encountered a water heater laying in the roadway.

When she swerved to avoid the water heater, her vehicle collided with a 2022 Jeep gong north.  The driver of the Buick, 66-year-old Marlene Platero of To'Hajilee, New Mexico, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In their update, NMSP said officers have now learned that the water heater fell off what is believed to be a newer model GMC Denalt 1500 or a GMC Canyon.  They are attempting to identify and locate the driver of the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the incident was asked to contact the New Mexico State Police, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
