ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Albuquerque on Monday night, police said.
According to a report by KRQE, officers responded to the area of Montgomery Boulevard and Pennsylvania Street at about 8:30 p.m. An investigation determined that a man was crossing Montgomery Boulevard and was struck by a westbound Jeep. There were no details on the man's condition.
Police believe that the incident resulted from pedestrian error, as the man was not in a crosswalk area at the time he was hit. The victim's wife told officers he had been intoxicated. The driver involved stayed at the scene. Police said there were no signs of driver impairment and speed did not appear to have been a contributing factor.
The Jeep driver said due to the sun setting in her direction at the time, she did not see the pedestrian until hitting him.
